Introduction
Experiment 4 : Matching Impedance The term impedance implies the matching ratios in accordance with amount and phase. Unlike the term VSWR, which only describe the size of deviation, not their (amount and phase) position on the line. In microwave practice, an attempt is made to transport the generated power as totally as possible to the load for the cost of operation and system performance reasons. Matching of mismatched modules is done preferably with reactive elements in microwave engineering since these can fulfil these tasks (power transportation) without loss. Capacitive and inductive components as well as line sections can be considered for reactive elements. In this experiment set up, an isolator is built after the oscillator in order to decouple the rest of the system. The impedance value (resistance and complex reactance value) can be obtained with the aid of Smith diagram. |
